CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
A 389-member body responsible for drafting India’s Constitution.

COMMITTEES
Committees were created by the Constituent Assembly comprising smaller groups of members delegated with various responsibilities.

CONGRESS ASSEMBLY PARTY
An unofficial forum consisting of Assembly members belonging to the Indian National Congress that met on the side-lines of the Assembly.

This conference of the representative organisations of Bengal and of the representatives of Bengalee associations and delegates from the Bengali speaking areas in Bihar resolve that for cultural and linguistic consideration as well as in fulfilment of the pledge contained in the Congress election manifesto of the 11th December 1945 the Bengali speaking tracts now in Bihar and Orissa viz the district of Manbhum and the subdivision of Dhalbhum Jantara Dunka Dumka Pakur Rajmahal and that portion of Purnea which is to the east of the Mahananda Kalindri river and Natha Kathiar Manihari road and the state of Seraikela and other similar areas should be forthwith amalgamated with West Bengal province.

CAP 52.3

This conference urges on the Indian Constituent Assembly to appoint a Delimitation Commission for giving effect to the foregoing resolution as early as possible. This conference urges on the cabinet of the West Bengal Govt the immediate necessity of taking appropriate action to secure at an early date the amalgamation of the Bengali speaking tracts as mentioned in resolution with West Bengal province on cultural and linguistic basis. This conference authorises New Bengal association to take all necessary action to secure the reunion of the Bengali speaking areas now in Bihar and Orissa with West Bengal province in collaboration with the Bengalee associations of Bihar and other interested bodies of Bihar and Orissa and the principal social and political organisations of the West Bengal province.

CAP 50.4

This conference urges on the Indian Constituent Assembly that none of the rights and privileges at present enjoyed by the tribal people in the Bengali speaking areas under special regulations may be in any way touched after their amalgamation with West Bengal province.
