CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
A 389-member body responsible for drafting India’s Constitution.

COMMITTEES
Committees were created by the Constituent Assembly comprising smaller groups of members delegated with various responsibilities.

CONGRESS ASSEMBLY PARTY
An unofficial forum consisting of Assembly members belonging to the Indian National Congress that met on the side-lines of the Assembly.

Remarks

Vishnadeo Narain, an advocate and former Vice-President of the Bihar Chamber of Commerces, wrote to the President of the Constituent Assembly. The author suggested that sales tax be placed in the central list and administered along with income tax, with the provinces receiving a contribution from the central government. This was because, as per the author, conducting separate proceedings in relation to income tax and sales tax resulted in harassment and unnecessary expenditure of national energy.
