CAP 7.2

The All India Jain Parishad while realising that the future of the Jain Community is closely allied with that of the political emancipation of the Indian people in general, claima that Jains are an ancient community having a religion, philosophy, culture and set of social customs distinct and different from that of any other community. The Jain Community has at all times being contributing its due share in the political, economic, cultural and moral uplift of the country and it constitues and important moinority numbering more than two millions. Therefore with a view to ensure adequate protection of their special rights as a moinority the perishad urges that the Jain community be accorded [unclear] representation on the Advisory Committee on the rights of the citizens minorities tribal and excluded areas in terms of paragraph 20 of Cabinet Mission statement May 16.
