The question is:
“That for amendments Nos. 2590, 2619, 2620 or 2621 of the List of Amendments, the following be substituted:-
(i) ‘That in clause (1) of article 193, for the words occurring after the words ‘Chief Justice of India’ to the end of the clause, the following be substituted:-‘and such of the judges of the Supreme Court and of the High Court of the State concerned as the President may deem necessary for the purpose and shall hold office until he attains age of sixty years:
Provided that in the case of appointment of a judge, other than the Chief Justice, the Chief Justice of the High Court of the State shall always be consulted.’
(ii) ‘That after sub-clause (b) of clause (2) of article 193, the following new sub-clause be added:-
‘(c) is a distinguished jurist.‘ ”
The amendment was negatived.
