A 389-member body responsible for drafting India’s Constitution.

145. The official language of the State shall be Urdu, but the English language shall, unless the Legislature by law otherwise provides continue to be used for all the official purposes of the State for which it was being used immediately before the commencement of this Constitution. The Sadar-i-Riyasat shall, as soon as may be, after the commencement of the Constitution establish an Academy of Arts, Culture, and Language, where opportunities will be afforded for the development of Art and Culture of the State and for the development of Hindi, Urdu and other regional languages of the State specified in the Sixth Schedule.
