CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
A 389-member body responsible for drafting India’s Constitution.

COMMITTEES
Committees were created by the Constituent Assembly comprising smaller groups of members delegated with various responsibilities.

CONGRESS ASSEMBLY PARTY
An unofficial forum consisting of Assembly members belonging to the Indian National Congress that met on the side-lines of the Assembly.

CAP 16.5

FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS

In the considered opinion of this Conference, the following Fundamental Rights should be guaranteed to every citizen by the Constitution without any qualification :-

Freedom of Thought, Speech and Expression ;
Right of assembly ;
Freedom of Association ;
Freedom to move freely, to reside and to settle in any part of the Indian territory and the right to emigrate ;
Freedom to practice any profession, trade or calling;
Freedom of Person and right to the writ of Habaes Corpus ;
Right to work or maintenance ; and
Right to strike and peaceful picketting;
Freedom of Conscience.
